Field Trips

The River Center offers a variety of programs for school groups, camp field trips and homeschool groups.

Family Programs

Enjoy seasonal family programs that are fun for the whole family!  Family Seine & Snorkel, Fishing Clinics, Storytime and Kayaking 101 Lessons are just some of the programs that we offer.

Virtual Field Trips

The River Center is offering virtual field trip programs this school year! River Center educators can participate live on-online with one of our virtual experiences. Days are flexible and morning and afternoon time slots available.

River Center Aquatic Adventure Camp

Children have a captivating experience discovering Florida ecosystems, collecting fascinating marine critters, and getting out on the water around the Loxahatchee River watershed!  With 4 counselors and just 16-20 campers per week, kids will be exploring the waterways of Jupiter, enjoying outdoor fun like snorkeling, fishing, and kayaking. Students will also be participating in outdoor and indoor activities at the River Center in a safe, personal environment.

Storytime

Kids ages 0-5 love story time at the River Center with short books, songs and a animal encounter!  Starting September 2021, story time is held every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Space is available for the first 25 children and their families, first come first serve. RSVP is not required. Program is free. Donations are always appreciated.

Monthly Lecture Series

Presented on the first Friday of every month (except January and July), engaging speakers from different agencies, universities and organizations present up to date information about the Loxahatchee River and south Florida habitats.  A light lunch is provided, please RSVP.  Donations are appreciated.  Check calendar for event dates and topics.

Naturalist Series

During the fall and spring months, the River Center presents a series of hands-on outdoor excursion.  Enjoy either kayak trips or nature walks in natural areas throughout the Loxahatchee River Watershed.

Boating Safely Classes

The River Center continues to collaborate with the AustinBlu Foundation and US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flotilla 52” to provide a series of Boating Safely Classes targeted specifically to young boaters in our community. This class is recommended for people 12 years and up.  The entire class takes place in the classroom, lecture-style.  Participants are required to pass a test to receive their Boater Safety Card from FWC.

Homeschool Workshops

Join the River Center for our upcoming Homeschool Workshops.  Interested participants are required to individually pre-register for each program.  Space is limited.  These workshops are drop-off only.  Homeschool groups and co-ops, please see our field trip section for more information about how to schedule a program for your group.

Science with Sam

On select Saturdays from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, join our Scientist Sam for various science activities for children ages 6-12. Activities will include wildlife encounters, garden exploration, science experiments and more! Each month has different themed lessons. Interested participants are required to pre-register for each program.  Space is limited.  These workshops are drop-off only.
