River Center Lecture Series – Presentation by Shelby Beard

Join us at the River Center for our monthly lecture series!

This month we are featuring Shelby Beard, Biological Scientist from FWC, for her exciting presentation discussing the Florida Manatee and FWC Rescue Program.

The Florida manatee has been downlisted from endangered to threatened however they still face many threats. Manatees suffer from watercraft collisions, cold stress, entrapment, stranding, entanglement, and red tide. We will discuss each of these concerns in depth including FWC’s role in behavior assessment and rescue.

Prior to the lecture a light lunch is provided.
