Our February speaker is Harper Carroll, Fire Manager for PBC ERM

Harper Carroll  is the Fire Manager for Palm Beach County ERM’s Natural Areas Program.
He has a BS in Biology from Loyola New Orleans, an Environmental MBA from FAU
and a MS in Forestry Resource and Conservation from UF. Harper has spent 30
years working on ecosystem restoration and management restoration projects
around central and south Florida, spanning from the Kissimmee River Restoration,
a massive undertaking that is a joint partnership between state and federal
agencies, to local Palm Beach County Natural Areas, which encompass 32,000
acres and are the crown jewels of the County. His 20-year career with Palm Beach
County has taken him from managing ecosystem restoration projects to
organizing, facilitating, and conducting prescribed burns and fuels management as
the Fire Manager, a position he has held for the last 10 years. Harper lives in
North Palm Beach with his wife and 2 children, where he enjoys fishing and
spending time in nature. This presentation will be focusing on the importance of prescribed fire.
